The Première begins with the dial: a peach-gold diamond hobnail surface developed from a rose-engine turned prototype and prepared for precision CNC-engraved production. Its purpose is not decoration alone, but controlled reflection — a surface that changes with the light while preserving balance, legibility, and restraint.

The dial
is the watch.

Most watches are designed from the movement outward. The movement dictates the case; the case dictates the dial. The dial becomes a function of engineering decisions made before it existed.

The Première inverts this. The dial is the first decision — its proportion, texture, surface character, and visual weight — and everything else follows. The result is a watch that reads as a unified object rather than an assembly of parts.

Guilloché

The diamond hobnail pattern was developed from a rose-engine turned prototype — one of the most demanding forms of dial finishing. Production dials are precision CNC-engraved from the same geometry, preserving the pattern's character while enabling consistent, quality-controlled output.

Surface

The peach-gold tone was developed specifically for the Première's dial — warmer than rose gold, softer than yellow, distinct from both. On the diamond hobnail surface, it reads as luminous rather than bright, shifting subtly as the light changes.

Legibility

Arabic numerals at full chapter-ring size. A wide, readable minute track. Hands proportioned to the dial, not to convention. The Première is readable at a glance and rewarding on examination — the two things a watch dial must be.

Restraint

No date. No complication for its own sake. The small seconds at 6 o'clock is the only subdial — classical, symmetrical, earned. The CG medallion sits at 12. The brand name is modest. The watch does not announce itself.

Precision as
a way of seeing.

Charles Gooss spent more than 25 years as a cosmetic dentist, periodontist, and implant surgeon. The disciplines share a demanding vocabulary: proportion, contour, surface finish, color harmony, material behavior under light. They also share a standard — the work must be right at the scale where most people stop looking.

Chas. Goss began with a specific conviction — that the dial is where a watch succeeds or fails, and that most watches fail it. Charles had been studying mid-century Swiss dial design with the kind of focus that doesn't switch off. He couldn't find what he was looking for. That gap became an obsession — one design, then another, then dozens more, each reworked relentlessly until something clicks. The Première is where that process first produced something complete.
